Crafty Sight Seeing in Alaska

I recently came back from taking an Alaskan Cruise with my family.  We had a wonderful time, saw some beautiful places and things, and witnessed some pretty amazing things.  Our cruise started in Seattle, then continued on to Juneau, Hubbard Glacier, Sitka, Ketchikan, and lastly Victoria, BC before we headed back to Seattle.  I must say, my goodness they were beautiful places... and not nearly as cold as I was expecting.  It was actually quite warm in Juneau.  According to our tour guide, we came on a good day, as it wasn't overcast and foggy.  Sitka and Ketchikan, however, were overcast, but still beautiful.  After the cruise, we stayed in Seattle for the weekend, and I just have to say... what a crafty city. Anyway, here are a few collages of things I saw:

Food From the Ship (yeah, of course I'd start with the food) : There were some pretty awesome carved melons. Also, one night they had something called Dessert Extravaganza where they had tables upon tables of desserts with incredible displays of cakes, cream puffs, chocolate sculptures, etc.

Flowers, etc of Alaska.  Most of these were taken at Glacier Gardens in Juneau.  A beautiful place and the tour is pretty awesome, going through part of an actual rainforest. There were also these really cool flower towers -- an upside down tree which they used to plant a hanging plant on the roots of the trees.

Flowers from the Butchart Gardens in Victoria, BC.  This is an absolutely stunning place.  It was a bit unfortunate that we only were able to see the garden during the evening but it was still beautiful.

Artifacts from the Sheldon Jackson Museum at Sitka, AK. These are some of the things that caught my eye at the museum.  The beadwork in their artifacts were amazing.  I also really liked the ship shown in the picture because it was made of ivory.

Glass Displays in a store at Ketchikan, AK.  I wish I jotted down the name of this store.  This display of a glass aquarium really caught my eye.  They had other glass pieces as well.

Random shots from the ship, etc.

After our trip to Alaska and Victoria, BC, we docked in Seattle, WA and stayed there for the rest of the weekend.  Here are some shots of Seattle, from Pike Place Market and the general vicinity, and Seattle Center.  I wish we had more time to explore Seattle.  Perhaps another time.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures.  On to new craft projects soon... I promise.
